RESUME 

 about me 

My name is Lena not Lena, often mispronounced. I am a Senior at UNC Chapel Hill studying public relations with a minor in French and information systems. Although I am a local and live in Hillsborough, I was originally born and lived 10 years in Belgium. This really shaped who I am today and sparks my curiosity to travel and to become proficient in French.

Having been to Europe before I was strongly motivated to do a semester abroad in Montpellier, France where I was able to fully immerse myself in a different culture for 5 months. Staying with a host family may not always be the easiest thing but taught me patience, adaptability and effective communication. That led me to be a study abroad peer ambassador I encourage students to go out of their comfort zone and stay open-minded, which is something I learned from my time abroad. Exposing myself to different cultures has improved my overall perspective and enhanced my ability to communicate in a different country.

Although I love traveling, I have learned a lot from my time here at Carolina because I have had the opportunity to demonstrate and learn leadership skills, whether that be through being a member of the women’s Club Lacrosse team s or working with a local organization as a client for a class doing a communication audit or creating graphics on illustrator and photoshop. I don’t shy away from hardwork as I’ve worked beyond the classroom with work study and outside jobs all 4 years, along with my schoolwork.
